There are many opportunities for students to engage with competition math including, but not limited to, Math Kangaroo, Noetic Math, and Math Olympiad for Elementary and Middle Schools. I will be there to help your student stretch beyond the rigors of everyday, routine math and delve more deeply into problem solving, geometric and 3-D thinking, algebraic thinking, logic and finding elegant solutions. We will have many different practice materials available for group, independent and whole club instruction and practice. We will take practice tests as competitions approach, but we will also have a lot of fun with math. The spirit of this club is not to win each competition but to engage with them; to learn how much fun math can be, more strategies and how many different ways it is applied. Math is a language and I want to empower students who are interested with all of the vocabulary, grammar and so on! I do ask that your child intends to sign up for at least one math competition this year in order to enroll in the club. The club will share sign-up dates, fees and all other deadlines in order to facilitate this process.
