This series consists of five "in a nutshell" classes covering workplace skills and how to utilize them, culminating in a "Basic Workplace Skills" certificate. Session #1 Supervision in a Nutshell When an employee is promoted to a supervisory position, he/she is typically delegated the responsibility of leading people. As such, it is essential that anyone in a supervisory role possess basic supervisory skills. This session will focus on the key knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage others. Session #2 Communication Skills in a Nutshell It is not unusual to hear people in companies say, “We have a communication problem here.” This session will examine your communication style and provide the key insights needed to facilitate effective communication within your organization. Session #3 Motivation in a Nutshell Motivating employees exclusively by using incentives and/or threats usually does not yield desired results. This session will focus on the key elements of human motivation and how supervisors can get the most out of the people in their organizations.. Session #4 Team Building in a Nutshell Having employees with the ability to work together as a team is critical to the success of most organizations. This session will focus on facilitating team dynamics that foster good decision–making, consensus building, group synergy and employee satisfaction, Session #5 Conflict Resolution in a Nutshell Managing conflict is a vital skill for all supervisors. Although conflict between employees is inevitable, learning how to resolve conflicts constructively is essential to the success of any organization. This session will focus on proven strategies and techniques for minimizing the detrimental effects of conflict when it occurs. All materials are included.
