Drawing: Figure & Portrait in Pastel Level 2+Instructor: Douglas MaloneThis class will focus on drawing the figure andportrait in color. Working from direct observationof figure models, students will learn to apply colorover a monochrome underdrawing using hard andsoft pastels. Emphasis will be on draftsmanship,value relationships, warm and cool color interaction,basic anatomy, and proficiency of technique.Some figure drawing experience is recommended.

MATERIALS LIST: For the first day: pencils and paper of students’ choice. After the first day, the following:
- Prismacolor NuPastels: set of 24 (or more). They come in sets of up to 96. Additional hard or soft pastels and pastel pencils as desired.
- Charcoal Pencils: Hard, Medium, Soft, Extra soft
- Drawing Paper Pad (not newsprint), 18x24”
- Sandpaper sharpening strip
- X-acto knife
- Kneaded eraser
- White plastic eraser
- Portfolio
- Drafting tape
- Drawing board
- Pencil sharpener
- Blending stumps
- Medium gray Canson paper
