The bottle form seems to appear in every culture in the world, ie. India, China, the Americas, Egypt, the Near East, Japan, Korea, Africa, Tibet, all over Europe, and on and on and on for thousands of years. The form was used in so many ways including the most obvious which were gathering water from the well or river, fermenting wine or beer, transporting liquids for trade, and whatever else was necessary according to the times and the culture. Also the bottle seems to be one of the most difficult forms to make on the potter's wheel so we will discuss at length, the challenge of the technique, and the pure joy of making a beautiful bottle.
