About this event

Learn how to add color and beautiful designs to your metal work in this exciting Enameling on Copper class. In this class, you will learn how to prepare your metal, prepare and apply enamel and how to fuse the enamel to the metal using a kiln or a torch. Techniques, such as stencils, sgraffito, graphite drawing, and wet-packing will be covered. Plique-à-jour, grisaille, champlevé, and cloisonné will also be discussed. You will be able to produce enamel pieces that can be incorporated into jewelry, however, jewelry-making will not be covered. Beginning Jewelry experience is recommended, but not required. Supply Notes Each student will receive a 6"x6" sheet of 20 gauge copper. Enameling materials and use of studio tools are included with this course. Your instructor will discuss any other materials you may want to purchase during the first day of class. *Independent Jewelry Studio hours are not included with this course. Students who register for this course AND have already taken at least one 8-week jewelry-making class at the Art Center within the last calendar year may contact our Education Coordinator to register for discounted independent studio hours ($30 for 26 hours). No enameling will take place outside of class.
