Intermediate level class: Students should have a medium level of skill with wheel throwing and basic handbuilding. Take your skills to the next level while you learn some of the finer points of making pottery that is not only beautiful to look at, but a pleasure to use in everyday life. Applying the principle of "form follows function," you'll learn how to meld quality craftsmanship and optimal functionality in your functional pottery pieces. Lids that fit. Handles that feel right in the hand. Pitchers that pour properly. Durable casseroles for the oven. Mixing bowls for batter and dough. Quiche and pie dishes. These are some of the functional pots we can explore in this class. And feel free to bring your own ideas to explore.
