Glaze Explorations (ceramics/pottery) Ages 18 & Up
Pre-Requisite: Prior Clay Experience & 12 pieces of bisque made at NWAC

Students registering for this class will want to take a class at NWAC the session before this class in order to make their bisqueware. You will need to bring 12 bisque pieces to the class (must have been made at the NWAC for the safety of the kilns):
- 3- 6" to 10" vases (textured or not)
- 1- shallow dish or tile, under 10" wide (textured or not)
- 4- cups without handles (2 untextured)
- 3- plates or tiles (untextured)
- 1- additional textured work of your choice.
We all love creating with clay! But glazing may leave you mystified, standing in the glaze room with your bisqueware saying "now what"? This is the class that will give you the confidence to try new glaze techniques. While we will cover some basic information about glazes, this is not a glaze chemistry class. Every class will be hands on and you will glaze the work you bring in. We will learn and practice the following techniques: glazing tall narrow forms, glazing shallow wide forms, layering glazes successfully for great effects, using wax and tape to do resists, different ways to use stains and oxides as well as various approaches with underglazes. The class is limited to 6 participants so that you will have plenty of hands-on instruction. This is a fun and informative class that will enhance all of your future clay work! Additional costs payable to the instructor on the first day of class: $10 materials fee.
