Prerequisite: • Open to dogs 8 to 20 weeks. • Puppies should have at least one Distemper Parvo vaccine. • All dogs over 3 months should have their rabies and distemper vaccine. AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy is an exciting program designed to get dog owners and their puppies off to a good start. AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy is an excellent first in-person training class for puppies. AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy provides a good lead-in to earning the Canine Good Citizen title. Goals of the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program include: • Providing socialization to puppies enrolled in AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy classes • Providing basic training to puppies enrolled in AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy classes • Teaching owners about the appropriate amount of exercise (or activity) for their puppies • Teaching owners how to be responsible dog owners Not all dogs benefit from group training classes. Your dog may not be appropriate for group class if they: Are excessively shy of new people or situations Are easy overstimulated by new situations Bark, snark, or snarl at other dogs or people Have a bite history of either people or other animals Dogs who exhibit behaviors incompatible with a group training setting will be dismissed from class without refund. This class is held on 6 consecutive Thursdays.
