About this event
From slab-built pottery and pinch pot planters to coil-built forms and expressive sculptures, this class gives beginning and experienced ceramicists some valuable time in the clay studio. Class will be held from 10 am -1 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays for a month, with each lesson covering a different aspect of handbuilt ceramics. Tuesdays will feature a formal lesson including a live demo by the instructor, with Thursdays being reserved for one-on-one troubleshooting between the instructor and students. On Wednesdays and Fridays of the session, students will have optional uninstructed open studio time in the ceramics studio, also from 10 am -1 pm. WEEK ONE: Tuesday: Class 1 – Slab-built Pottery and Pinch Pots Wednesday: Optional Open Studio Thursday: Trouble-Shooting Instructed Studio Time Friday: Optional Open Studio WEEK TWO: Tuesday: Class 1 – Coil-built Forms and Intro to Glazing Wednesday: Optional Open Studio Thursday: Trouble-Shooting Instructed Studio Time Friday: Optional Open Studio WEEK THREE: Tuesday: Class 1 – Expressive Sculpture Wednesday: Optional Open Studio Thursday: Trouble-Shooting Instructed Studio Time Friday: Optional Open Studio WEEK FOUR: Tuesday: Class 4 – Glazing Wednesday: Optional Open Studio Thursday: Trouble-Shooting Instructed Studio Time Friday: Optional Open Studio Students are required to attend every Tuesday and Thursday class, but can choose to attend all other dates as desired. This is a great way to become comfortable with handbuilding and to get to know the Ah Haa Ceramics Studio!* *this class is a prerequisite for Open Studio Membership
