Counselors in Training – Grade 10-12

NatureBridge at Golden Gate • 1033 Fort Cronkhite SausalitoCA  94965 Organized by NatureBridge Coastal Camp

About this event

Everyone is capable of being a great leader and the Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program is the perfect place to start. The CIT program is designed to support, encourage and guide high schoolers towards being effective leaders in their communities. We provide them with the tools to lead in actionable, concrete ways, empowering them to become the next generation of environmental stewards, educators, activists and enthusiasts. Teens who successfully complete the CIT program could be eligible to become camp staff members the following summer*. In addition, experience as a CIT can be used on future job and college applications. There are also opportunities to incorporate this program into volunteer hours and capstone projects or internships on a case-by-case basis. During these programs, CITs will spend the first week as a group hiking, making friends, playing games and learning how to work with kids. During the second week, they will work with one group of younger campers along with their counselor and educator, learning how to teach and lead a group of young campers on trail. Highlights Include: Challenge hike on a route designed by the group Leadership Compass Activities Discover best practices for working with young kids Practice leading team building and science education activities Co-leading a group of young campers for one week *Please note that Coastal Camp typically does not hire until the age of 18, so employment will depend on the CIT’s age and other experience. **NOTE- This is a two week program! If you need the bus, make sure to select both weeks in the session options.
