This class familiarizes participants with the history and natural wonders around the Guadalupe Dunes. The guest instructor will facilitate a discussion and provide fun, hands-on activities to prepare participants to experience Oso Flaco on a family-friendly group hike at 6 pm on May 23, 2024. Families who attend both the class and the hike will be entered in a drawing to win a free family camping trip. Every family member must be registered and attend both.The California Department of Parks and Recreation and the City of Santa Maria are offering the Santa Maria Outdoor Recreation Experience (SMORE) as a way to encourage community members to explore the great outdoors. This grant funding provides free environmental education classes for children and adults at the Buena Vista Park Cabin.
