About this event

Description

Internet Registration has not begun yet. Check Registration Dates in details.

The focus of Explorations in Fiber Arts is for a group of fiber artists to collectively create a body of work that represents an idea or theme. The Explorations in Fiber Arts Tree Project explores the beauty of trees through the themes of Habitat, Roots, and Environment. There are countless ways to capture the wonder of trees and their contribution to nature and other living beings. Each artist featured in this exhibition uses their individual and unique inspirations and processes to create a project that comes together as a collective body of work representing the importance and value of trees. Artists explored new textile techniques and artistic problem solving to create either a 3D piece or 2 sided 2D piece for this exhibit. Explorations in Fiber Arts grew out of Women’s Journeys in Fiber Art, a group of mostly Chicago area artists. Between the two groups, these artists have been showcasing their unique pieces of artwork since the early 2000s. The approximately 21 to 24 artists are also members of the Weavers Guild of the North Shore, The North Suburban NeedleArts Guild, or the Illinois Quilters Inc. Most of their art shows are in the Chicago area, including an annual exhibit at the Fine Art of Fibers show at The Chicago Botanic Gardens. Light refreshments will be served. Occasionally the exhibit room may be in use by a group. If you want to make sure the exhibit is available, please call 815-338-6223.
