The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults adapted for Children is a two-year process through which children over the age of 7 become fully initiated into the Catholic Faith and receive the sacraments of initiation including Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. This class is available to children who have not been baptized or has been baptized in another Christian faith tradition. At St. Joseph, we will integrate children into our family-based formation classes. Families will gather once a month at St. Joseph. Children will gather by grade, where they will study the month’s topic with a catechist. Parents will gather in the dining hall and be engaged in the month’s topic through talks, discussion, fellowship, and preparing for the family lessons they will do at home. Families will be given a monthly packet where they can work through lessons at home at their own pace. (Parents who have a 6th grade student may opt to have them join the Family Session rather than Youth Ministry if they prefer). Please note: RCIA is a two-year process. The second year or preparation will include additional sacramental workshops, retreats and participation in the RCIA liturgical rites. The Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation will be received at the Easter Vigil Mass in the second year of preparation. Wednesday, 6:15-7:45 p.m. (Classes offered in English and Spanish) Cost is $85/child (Family max payment of $255) *There is an additional sacramental fee of $50 for the second year of preparation to cover supplies.
