Historic Yates Mill County Park • 4620 Lake Wheeler Road RaleighNC  27603 Organized by Wake County Parks, Recreation and Open Space

About this event

Description

Have you ever wanted to learn more about the plants and animals that call North Carolina home, both now and in the past? Or wondered how the park’s historic gristmill works? Join us for a hands-on exploration of some of the plants and animals that live at Historic Yates Mill County Park. You’ll also learn about fossils and paleontology as we talk about what lived here long ago; put up trail cameras to document wildlife living at the park today; explore the mill pond by canoe; and discover more than 200 years of the gristmill’s history. For ages 8-12. Cost: $52.

Registration opens at 10 a.m. on February 1!

Camps at Historic Yates Mill County Park offer your child hands-on history and nature activities including tours of the old mill, hikes, crafts, and more. There will be 2 adults with the kids at all times. Kids bring their own snacks and lunch.

Preregistration is required. Camp size is limited, so sign up early!

A registration packet including a health history form and more information will be sent to you a month before the camp starts.
