All class dates and times are required. Make ups for missed class time will not be an option.
This course is designed to certify participants as a Starfish Swimming Instructor (SSI) in the Swim School portion of the program. Participants will not be certified to teach Stroke School.
This certification is for employment with the City of Phoenix Aquatic Section. The participant certification will be maintained in the Aquatic office.
Participants will learn the skills and techniques required to successfully teach swimming lessons and water safety. All candidates will be required to complete approximately 8 hours of on-line training prior to the second day of class. Participants will receive a link from their instructor on the first day of orientation which will give them access to the on-line portion of class. Anyone interested in teaching swimming lessons with the City of Phoenix must have a Starfish Swimming instructor (Swim School) certification.
Prerequisites: Must be 15 years old prior to the last day of class and be able to successfully complete the pre-course swimming skills test.
This pool is heated and the majority of all in person sessions will be conducted in the water. Swimsuit, towels and water are required for every class. Snacks and goggles are recommended.
