About this event

S'edav Va'aki Museum: This recorded program, which is about 20 minutes in length, discusses the unique designs on rocks found in special locations around the valley. Discover the difference between a petroglyph and a pictograph. Find out how the images and symbols are made and how we can protect them for future generations. Learn about how these designs are connected to the Ancestral Sonoran Desert People. This program is designed to meet Arizona State Education standards for 2nd through 4th grade skill levels in Social Studies, Visual Arts, and Science.

Note: Supplemental hands-on Craft Kits are available for purchase (additional fees apply) during virtual program registration.
Pinch Pots - Prehistoric Pottery: Try your hand at constructing your own pinch pot and learn about Southwestern prehistoric pottery techniques.
Plaster Petroglyphs: Have fun creating your own plaster petroglyph using design inspiration from the Ancestral Sonoran Desert People.
Each Craft Kit order includes the materials for the craft and a PowerPoint with step-by-step instructions. Please call 602-495-0901 to make an appointment for curbside pickup of the craft materials.
All virtual programming and craft activities must be scheduled a minimum of two weeks prior to the proposed date of the program allowing museum staff time to prepare the supplies and virtual links requested. The virtual program link will be e-mailed to the designated "contact" one day prior to the proposed program. If the program falls on a Monday the link will be sent out the Friday before.
