Description
We're sorry, but this activity is over. The last meeting was Saturday, May 11, 2024.
In this presentation, Dr. Amira Millicent Davis will guide participants through the Chicago Black Renaissance from the early to mid-20th century. The presentation will include a Q&A and an interactive component where audience members share their migration stories.
For 35 years Dr. Davis has performed in schools and cultural institutions using African percussions, drums, storytelling, and song. Now she wants to share the insights gained in teaching Africana studies to audiences outside of academia. Presented in partnership with the Illinois Humanities “Road Scholar” Speakers Bureau. (AJ)
