Language and Identity: Speakers, Tradition and Culture
Friday May 10th and Saturday May 11th 2024
The Annual Conference of the Instituto Cervantes in New York includes an academic and a cultural program, and it aims to analyze, through each of its thematic strands, how language and society relate to each other. Language is key to creating communities and defining identities, but it also allows speakers to make judgments about their interl ocutors. In the case of Spanish, this is clearly visible, since almost 600 million people speak the language worldwide.
