Description
As part of our Longleaf Ramble mini event, come out to Harris Lake County Park for a guided wagon tour to our 60-acre Longleaf forest and walk among our beautiful Longleaf Pines! Learn about their special history to the area and the ecology of the Longleaf forest ecosystem, including the importance of prescribed fire. See new growth and succession taking place in 30 acres of our forest after a prescribed burn in January! Rides will be narrated by park staff. While you wait for your wagon ride, visit interactive educational exhibits from the N.C. Forest Service, the N.C. Herpetological Society, Carolina Habitats, Dragonfly Nature Programs, and the Wake County Bookmobile will be on site. Fun for all ages! Space is limited on the wagon. Meet at the wagon near the playground.
Children must be accompanied by an adult and all participants (children and adults) must be registered in our online system due to program capacity limits.
