Meet the Anti-Yogi Who is Redefining What it Means to Practice Yoga

With Stanley as their teacher, students don’t have to hide. She boasts that in her class, you won’t be the only fat person in the room, or the one who farts first, or the only one wearing a sports bra with your belly hanging out. She says she is up-front, no shame, so her students can feel that way, too.

“I can’t tell you how many girls, when they ask if they can take a picture with me, right before we take the picture, they take their shirt off,” she says. “They’re like, ‘I saw you do this in class, and now I realize it’s okay to do it.’ That’s why I do it: Because that girl would not have done it had she not seen someone else do it first.”

Interested in taking classes with Stanley? Stanley offers a  yoga series called EveryBody Yoga on Cody, an app that offers over 1,000 yoga classes from coaches all over the world.
