Period C: Archery and Obstacle Courses This introductory course will teach the fundamentals of archery. Instructors will teach campers correct techniques, range safety requirements, procedures and equipment. Archery has a wide appeal for campers and is often the highlight of their summer. With coordination and focus, virtually everyone can learn this sport safely. We’ll also work as a team to create different obstacle courses using our outside environment and surroundings. Instructor Trevor Slater is a math teacher and has a long career in education, including being an outdoor educator, coaching basketball, teaching archery and woodshop and much more. Period D: Improv and Dramatic Interpretation Performance Improv is a great way to practice public speaking while building confidence in yourself and your presence. Improv teaches you how to create stories and scenes and perform them without a script. In this class, you will have fun getting creative and getting comfortable being yourself while speaking in front of others. You will learn the fundamentals of storytelling and how to keep an audience engaged in your performance and story. And we'll do all of this in a safe, fun and team oriented environment. In this class we’ll also work on Dramatic Interpretation pieces, which are short pieces taking from plays, short stories or other works that spotlight your ability to convey emotion through the text. We’ll practice our acting skills and gain confidence through Dramatic Interpretation, which is an common area to compete in Speech and Debate tournaments as well. Instructor Dontae Hill aka “The Forensics Guy” has been involved in Speech and Debate for over a decade. The Forensics Guy has dedicated his life to the activity and found a variety of ways to live out his mantra of making sure that every student has the opportunity to be impacted by Forensics.
