Period A: Hiking, Nature Exploration and Games The Athenian School sits on 75 acres of land at the base of the beautiful Mt. Diablo and there is plenty to explore right where we are! From hiking trails, to lizards and hidden animal homes, we’ll learn about the natural environment of Mt. Diablo and the animals and plants that call it home. We’ll hike, explore, learn, and play games as well. Instructor Trevor Slater is a math teacher and has a long career in education, including being an outdoor educator, coaching basketball, teaching archery and woodshop and much more. Period B: Mixed Media Arts In our Mixed Media Arts class, kids will have the opportunity to explore multiple mediums including watercolor, acrylic paint, marker, crayon, and pencil. Each piece of art will be inspired by an artist in history and their cultural background. Join us as we explore line, shape, movement, and pattern and create artwork that you will cherish forever. Instructor Cass Allen couldn’t be more excited to be teaching the Mixed Media Arts class! She currently lives in Fort Worth, Texas, and teaches K-5 Art. Her goal is to provide a space where every kid can express themselves without judgment, be creative, and leave with a smile on their face.
