Blue Devils Winter Maintenance 2023-24

Winter maintenance practices consist of the swimmers swimming laps in the 4 different regulation swim strokes to hone their technique and maintain their conditioning in the off season. Practices usually last one hour in the pool with 15 minutes of dry land activation prior to swimming.
There are no Little Devil or Pre-Developmental levels offered in the winter and the coaches do not get into the water with the swimmers. There is usually only one or two coaches on the pool deck during the practices. For this reason, all winter maintenance swimmers must be able to swim 50 meters unassisted in a recognized stroke to qualify them for winter maintenance swim. If the coaching staff feels that the swimmer's safety cannot be ensured because the swimmer cannot swim 50m unassisted, then the swimmer may be asked to withdraw from winter maintenance.
