Description
We will explore a portion of one of the area’s newest hiking options, the Corvallis-to-the-Sea (C2C) Trail. This out-and-back hike of about three miles will be in a forested section off of Woods Creek Road north of Mary’s Peak. Because the trailhead can be tricky to find, it is recommended that we carpool, meeting at the southwest parking lot by the Fairgrounds at 9:15
Directions to trailhead: Head west out of Philomath on Highway 20. From where Highway 34 takes off of 20 to the left, continue 4.6 miles to Woods Creek Road. Turn left onto Woods Creek. Be aware that Woods Creek will turn into a dusty, bumpy, gravel road. Follow Woods Creek for about12.3 miles. Look for Old Peak Road on the left--you might also spot a MP6 sign on the right, but it is hard to see. The junction with Old Peak Road is Y-shaped, with two short roads that meet; if you miss the first, you can take the second. Old Peak Road itself is a gated road you cannot drive on. Park on one of the two short roads. Off to the right of the second short road is a wooden info board with a C2C trail sign nearby.
