Description
We're sorry, but this activity is over. The last meeting was Friday, May 17, 2024.
This is an open studio adult group for Hobby Potters to learn from each other while working on their own projects. It is expected that participants have previous experience working with clay and are just looking for a space to practice their skill, and enjoy making pottery as a hobby, not for profit. There is not an Instructor for this group, however a staff will be in periodically to check in with participants, answer any questions, complete routine maintenance and determine a firing schedule. We have tools to use, but bringing your own tools is suggested. The class registration fee includes stoneware clay, no outside clay is allowed in our studio. There is a required additional glaze fee. This fee can be paid by giving a minimum $20 donation to our Pottery Club Volunteer, Jordan who would purchases glazes for the group. This fee can also be paid by contributing one high fire glaze to the room. More glaze information will be provided on the first day of class. Participants in this class are expected to help maintain the room by keeping materials organized, cleaning workspace, taking finished pieces, discarding unwanted pieces, helping to wedge recycled clay and cleaning the bottoms of glazed pieces so they can be fired. Charcee and Jordan are our group volunteers, they often check in with participants and staff, please use them as a resource.
Please also allow ample time to clean the space, tools, and area you've worked in, the building closes at 8:00pm, make sure you allow time to clean your space!
This is not a group for established potters looking to mass produce pieces with the intent to sell. If you are an established potter interested in kiln sharing, call the center for details.
