About this event

Description

Music connects us with emotions and memories. Music, and popular songs developed over time, and provides a window into particular eras, identities, and cultural settings. The building blocks of music—melody, rhythm, harmony, and lyrics—are the same, no matter what the genre. The skills for understanding and creating music are learned through practice; even if one has never studied music, remember melodies, lyrics, rhythms, dance steps, can provide an access point to skills that one might not be aware of. Music connects us with emotions and memories. The building blocks of music—melody, rhythm, harmony, and lyrics—are the same, no matter what the genre. The skills for understanding and creating music will be taught in this class; even if one has never studied music, melodies, lyrics, rhythms, dance steps, can provide an access point to skills that one might not be aware of. The class will cover all the basic elements of music, look at the popular music of specific eras, and give participants the opportunity to write their own music and learn basic skills.
