About this event

Description

This course is closed to further registration.

The aim of this course is to enable students to develop the skills necessary to achieve effective levels of communication in Spanish through Spanish and Hispanic cinema. We will conduct a thorough review of the grammatical system based on the films we discuss and we will proceed to recover, consolidate and expand a substantial vocabulary by exploiting audio and visual resources.
We will focus on the cultural, thematic, technical and aesthetic aspects of the films, as well as on their social – historical and political context. The tools we provide will allow students to engage in formal and informal discussion on a variety of topics informed by the films provided. By the end of the course, students should have a better command of all linguistic skills, especially listening comprehension, fluency and accuracy in their speech. Additionally, there will be several writing exercises throughout the course that will help students improve their writing abilities. Different films and topics are addressed with each course offering.
Broaden your cultural horizons and gain a unique insight into Spanish and Hispanic culture through film!
(an intermediate level is required in order to complete the course)
