Description
Prerequisite: Students will be required to complete a pre-screening questionnaire, and score “advanced” on BOTH a reading and oral language proficiency test.
Virginia Behavioral Health Interpreting Curriculum is a 48 hour, 100% virtual course. The course includes guest speakers from the clinical fields and a mini-job fair. There is a standardized curriculum and a textbook for the course that was developed in partnership with the Virginia Behavioral Health Department, the School of Public and International Affairs at Virginia Tech and the Virginia Refugee Healing Project (books and materials are included in tuition). Successful completion of the course leads to a certificate of completion from the Virginia Behavioral Health Department. ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE A LAPTOP AND RELIABLE INTERNET ACCESS!Mandatory Pre Classes are on Tuesdays, October 1 through Oct. 22 6pm-8:00 pm at the Technical Center @ Courthouse.Online classes start October 28 through Dec 9 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8pm and Saturdays from 9am-11am.Cost is $400.00 if enrolled in English classes and $800.00 if not enrolled.Registration is September 24 from 4pm-8pm.
