Description
Prerequisite(s): 7-13 years old.
Children and youth love to seek out new adventures and nothing is more adventurous than reaching the summit of our 40 foot climbing wall. This six week instructional course covers the basic technical skills required for indoor climbing in an energetic and safe environment, and our low 1:6 instructor ratio ensures that each child will get plenty of personalized attention. Older participants (9+) will have the opportunity to learn top rope belaying skills, dependent upon their experience and ability level. Registration includes a top rope belay lesson during the sixth class for one parent so that you can continue to enjoy climbing with your child during our drop-in hours (a $30 value)!
Participant Outcomes:
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Properly equip a climbing harness and tie in to a fall protection rope system controlled by a belayer, including safety checks.
- Demonstrate smooth rope control while belaying as their partner climbs, rests, and is lowered.
- Explain fundamental climbing movement skills, including: proper balance, efficiency, hand and foot placement, and use of the various features of a climbing wall.

This program consists of six 90-minute classes on Sunday mornings. Double-check the specific program dates and times at the bottom of this page before registering.
To ensure your best experience we recommend you attend this program with:
- Active clothing and footwear (closed-toe shoes) in alignment with our facility access guidelines.
- Climbing harnesses and chalk will be provided, and climbing shoes are available for use if desired.
