10 Weeks This course delves into an exploration of the human figure in maquette size. Through the hands-on practice of modeling oil-based clay from the observation of live models, participants will examine the sculptural construction of the figure. We will apply concepts such as proportion, form, and positive and negative space, all in relation to bodily expression, movement, and its contextual surroundings. Working from a live model will act as a foundational cornerstone, where initial observations are sketched on paper allowing for clear understanding when translated into sculptural representations. Once completed we will cast the final maquettes in paper and plaster gauze, allowing for painting of their final surfaces. Registration closes July 10
