LIFT Climbing

Watauga High School • 300 Go Pioneers Dr BooneNC  28607 Organized by Mountain Alliance

About this event

Trip Description: Leadership Initiative for Female Teens (LIFT) aims to foster a community of young women who are proactively seeking to make positive changes in themselves and in their communities. LIFT girls do this by keeping their minds and bodies healthy through service learning, adventure education, and building a positive peer community. Learn how to belay, tie knots, receive climbing tips, and try out some climbs on real rock. We will choose a climbing location that has a variety of climbing difficulties; this trip is open to beginners and experts, alike. Every skill level is welcome and encouraged to join. All activities will be "Challenge by Choice" which means that if at any point a student is uncomfortable with what an activity is asking them to do, they will have the option to opt out and participate in a different way. Climbing is a great way to spend time in the outdoors and to challenge yourself. Though climbing is an inherently risky activity, Mountain Alliance staff will take every step possible to ensure that risks are minimized and that students have an enjoyable outing. What to bring: - CLOSED toe shoes for hiking - Comfortable clothes for climbing in (some type of athletic wear is recommended) - 2 water bottles - LUNCH and snacks - Day bag - Layers (depending on weather) - Mountain Alliance will provide all climbing gear
