Description
Ceramics: Wheel Throwing Level 2+Instructor: Pike Randle (Noah Zirpoli)From the basic cylinder, we will create a multitudeof different shapes and sizes, and concentrate onfunctional wares which will include techniques,shape, and design. Demonstrations will coverwedging, centering, and forming shapes suchasvases, mugs, bowls and plates. As students progress,basic decorating and glazing techniques willbe taught as well as more advanced techniquessuch as attaching multiple parts to one object,throwing lids, and surface decoration.Prequisite: Students MUST be able to throwa cylinder and be proficient in basic ceramic skillsbefore taking this class.

Basic Materials to bring to class:
- Basic Pottery Tool Kit (sold on Amazon.com or Blick.com)
- Apron (or wear something that can get dirty)
- Small plastic bucket
- Rags

BBAC Ceramics Studio Policies/ProceduresCeramics students are required to follow all department policies and procedures.
BBAC ceramics classes and open studios are intended to introduce and further the education experience, and are not intended to take the place of a personal studio and/or production studio. Students may not bring in work created outside of the BBAC to be bisque-fired, glazed, or glaze-fired at the BBAC.
Ceramics: Open Studio Time - No InstructionOpen Studio Time is available for students currently registered for a ceramics class (12 hours or more.) Students must follow current safety and health policies while in the BBAC Ceramics Studio.
• There is no instruction during open studios.• Students are required to sign up for open studio times.• There is a 12-student maximum per open studio.• Open Studio begins the 2nd week of classes and ends one week before the last week of the term.• Open Studio Dates will be posted in the studio by Ceramics Technician, Brooke Herzing.
Purchasing Extra Clay at the BBACOne 25 lb. bag of clay is included with your class. BBAC offers the service of purchasing additional clay (one bag at a time) at the beginning of your class time. Extra clay is not sold in open studios.
