Painting: Intermediate Acrylic/ Mixed Media
Instructor: Andrea Tama

Students will be doing 3 landscape paintings looking at artists such as

Georgia O’Keeffe and Mitchell Albala moving beyond the representational

elements of the photos. We may be using mediums and doing some sanding.


Prerequisite: This is an Advanced Painting Class.

You are required to have painted in Acrylic Mixed

Media for at least two (2) recent years with drawing,

color theory, paint mixing and composition

class experience. If you are new to the class,

you will be required to send me photos of some

of your work in advance of the class.

(Self-taught painting experience is not equivalent

to taking classes. This is not optional.)

Small rubber spatulas: Catalyst by Princeton no handle , white and grey, and #01 Mini Catalyst with a handle.
*First day of class we will be doing landscape paintings this semester. Please take and bring to class some landscape photos. One low horizontal format (more sky), one high horizontal format (less sky) and one with a water element, trees and/or path. There should be layers of landscape, something far back, mid-range and something in the foreground. We willbe starting with a high horizontal format. Please bring a gessoed wood panel in red ochre, gray, white or black; 30x30, 36x36, or 30x40 inches. We will be using the catalyst scraper and thick paint. Please make sure you restock your paint and gel!
