Description
This American Red Cross Course includes certifications in Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR/AED, Administering Emergency Oxygen and Preventing Disease Transmission.
All students must be at least 15-years-old and complete the following pretest:- Swim-Tread-Swim - Swim 150 yards using Crawl or Breaststroke, tread for 2 minutes without arms, swim 50 more yards. Goggles are allowed.
- Timed Event - Swim 20 yards, retrieve a 10-lb brick from the bottom of the lap pool, return 20 yards swimming with the brick. On the return, the brick must be held at the surface in both hands, kicking only. No goggles allowed.
- Submerging - Submerge to the bottom of the dive tank, retrieve the 10-lb brick, return to surface with the brick. No goggles allowed
Be prepared to enter the water on the first day of course for pretesting. All students must be prepared to swim 300 yards continuous, using front crawl, breaststroke, or combination of both strokes, swim 20 yards at the surface, surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to surface and swim 20 yards back to starting point with object and climb at edge of pool in under 1 minute and 40 seconds, tread water using legs only for 2 minutes. Books and syllabus will be available first day of class. A Digital download of the Lifeguarding book will be available for students with ability to bring computer devices to class.
