About this event
Why spin your own yarn? Here are a few good reasons: a) You can design your finished project starting with the yarn itself; 2) You can create a unique yarn that can’t be found anywhere else; 3) It’s fun, relaxing (once you know how), and cool – it takes “I made it myself!” to a new level! This 1-day class will start with a discussion of different types of fibers. Then we will learn how to draft fibers, spin on a hand spindle, ply and finish our yarn, and talk about how to store it. It’s a fun filled day with spinning and fiber talks! This class is a prerequisite for BEGINNING SPINNING ON A SPINNING WHEEL. If you have a drop spindle, please bring it. Otherwise, a drop spindle, bag, roving and handouts can be purchased for $25.
