NOTE: No class July 9 We will explore simple warp-faced Ikat – the age-old process of creating patterns by controlling which parts of the warp are dyed, and which resist the dye. The magic is in the natural and intentional shifts in the dyed and undyed warp rather than complex weave structures and treadling. Students will wind the warp, wrap sections of the warp to create a pattern, dye the warp as a group and then manipulate it on the loom prior to weaving. Students who have some prior weaving experiences are welcome in this class. New weavers are encouraged to take the Weaving Introduction Workshop or Beginners Plus! Class. Supplies are included in the registration fee. NOTE: Dye day may be scheduled on the weekend, TBD.
