Ready to take the exciting first steps in abstract acrylic painting? This comprehensive beginner’s class, esteemed artist Pamela Jameson walks you through the basics, from choosing a palette and paint to fundamental techniques such as color mixing, layering and more. Practice your new skills with simple exercises and complete your first monochromatic painting. With Pamela’s step-by-step guidance, you’ll be confidently loving abstract painting in no time! Objective: Students will identify abstract art and describe it as a feeling art. Through experimentation of color, the tools explained while mark making, students will create their own abstract piece of artwork. First Half: Students to experiment with various tools to apply paint, base coloring with layers, color mixing techniques, mediums and mark making as an expressive outlet for their creativity. Second Half: Students to choose a direction for final canvas. Continue to experiment, explore and expand your painting process while applying your newly acquired abstract painting skills and knowledge. Final abstract artworks using a limited palette.
