Ashburton River Trail Marathon

This inaugral event uses the formed walking and biking tracks of the Ashburton River Track along the northern side of the Ashburton River. Walkers and runners will be mostly under the canopy of the rivers trees and protected from sun and wind.
The Friday nights individual and teams 5km walk/run will be a social event with the serious runners starting and backed up by the participants looking to enjoy themselves. This is an ideal event for workplace challenges and we'd encourage teams to think of themed attire and if the weather permits perhaps a water weapon or two. Afterwards there will be music and food available for individuals, families and teams to relax and dance the night away.
Saturday morning will see the loop extended to allow for the 10km participants to turn at the Mania-o-roto Scout Park area and the 21km participants continuing onto Corchrances Road and back down Beach Rd to reenter the river track area at Trevors Rd.
All 3 events are a loop and will start and finish at the Allenton Rugby Clubrooms with plenty of parking and safe areas for friends and families to wait and support.
5km participants will receive a wooden medal and corporate team champs will receive a wooden trophy. Whilst the 10 and 21km participants will receive a metal cutout medal.
Event details and schedule
Friday 1st March; 5 km Individual/Team events starts at 5.30pm.
Saturday 2nd March; 21km event will start at 8.30am, closely followed by the 10km participants.
Registration packs can be collected from the Allenton Rugby Football Clubrooms (21 Melrosr Road) on Thursday 29th February 5-7pm, Friday 12-2pm or early Saturday morning before the briefing at 8.15am.
Safe, off street parking is available at the Allenton Rugby Club and over night motorhome/caravan facilities are vailbale for members at the neighbouring NZMCA camp.
