Description
LESS is MORE. Join me as I show you how to reduce the visual clutter that so often is so overwhelming when painting from life! Together we will discover how to summarize the scene, eliminating unnecessary information and only painting the necessary.Through a series of art exercises, observations, discussions, and demos we will explore the principles of design. After a day of exploring these concepts, you will be able to go outside and instead of seeing chaos, you will start to see the elements of the landscape as simple interlocking shapes of color, light, and shadow that you can paint.
Concepts will benefit artists of all skill levels and mediums. We will be exploring these concepts using simple materials and limited values.
Required supplies to bring : A large sketch pad and easel if you want to stand and have a sketch pad on the easel. 11x14 or larger is better and we will be using markers so make sure the paper is not too thin or markers will bleed. A binder clip can be helpful to keep pages of sketchpad from blowing or flopping over. If you prefer to sit bring a folding chair and sketch pad that will fit in your lap.
No paint necessary. Other materials will be supplied and are included in class cost. Weather permitting this class will be outside. Bring your lunch. Lunch Time 12-1 pm
Plein air experience is not necessary but general art skills and knowledge of your painting medium are required.
