About this event

---Instructor: Keely Kirk---This is an advanced combination class with a dual focus on 1) Learning the elements needed for a performance improv ensemble and 2) An introduction to the fundamentals of sketch writing. This class will allow you to continue to explore different improv styles and techniques and learn how to create and find material for sketches. Constructive and supportive instruction will give attention to the individual tendencies of each performer, group tendencies, and scene work. Class exercises will focus on using improvised scenes to brainstorm and generate ideas for writing. Whether you are a seasoned writer or someone who rarely picks up a pencil, this class will teach you how to get ideas onto paper. Building off the knowledge of the core concepts of improvisation, you’ll learn to unlock your creativity, discover new approaches, overcome obstacles, and affect an audience. This class may include a full-length student showcase performance combining improv and sketch writing.
