Description
The Exotic Animal Training and Management (EATM) program was established as a major at Moorpark College in 1974 with one animal: "Kiska," the wolf. Additional animals were slowly added, and the lower compound was constructed to house all the animals. In 1990, the EATM compound was moved to a five-acre site overlooking all the Moorpark College campus. The animal collection has gradually grown over the years as animals were acquired through donations and breeding, loans from major zoos, and research centers. Animals range from marmosets, elephants, leopard geckos, alligators, and emus, to tigers, lions, hyenas, mountain lions, and many primates and birds. Moorpark has become a major learning institute for animal husbandry and veterinary study. After our tour, we will be lunching at Golden Panda Buffet in Simi. Meal is not included in the price of the excursion. NOTE: EXTENSIVE WALKING. ADA ACCESSIBLE. REFUNDS/TRANSFERS/CREDITS GRANTED ONLY IF YOUR SPOT CAN BE FILLED. Location: Moorpark * Shuttle Departs: Recreation Center
