February: Los Angeles Chinatown Firecracker Ride
Los Angeles, California - February 23

This ride celebrates the Chinese New Year of the Snake with a weekend of festivities in Chinatown in downtown Los Angeles. March: Salado Smokin Spokes Ride
Salado, Texas - March 30

Get a great look at Central Texas at this 11th annual ride in Salado, between Austin and Waco along I-35. Six different routes are offered with opportunities to customize your ride to avoid brutal hills (and beautiful views) if you'd like. Ride organizers encourage you to bring your camera to catch the views at Overlook Park, Old Summer's Mill and more.

April: Assault on the Carolinas
Brevard, North Carolina - April 13

Take on the hills and valleys of North Carolina and South Carolina, including a daunting climb to Ceaser's Head State Park and a trek through scenic Transylvania County. The ride has 100K, 60K and 40K options.

May: 3 States 3 Mountains Challenge
Chattanooga, Tennessee - May 4
1 of 13
The century ride takes on all three mountains—Raccoon, Sand and Lookout—while crossing three state lines—Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia. Smaller routes (83, 67 or 26 miles) take on fewer mountains but all go through at least two states. Former pro cyclist George Hincapie plans to ride in the 2013 event.

June: 24 Hours of Light
Whitehorse, Yukon Territory - June 22-23

No lights allowed—or required. This 24-hour ride on the Yukon Territory's top-flight mountain bike trails can be done solo or with a team of up to eight riders. It never gets dark the entire time. This ride is about 200 miles north of Juneau, Alaska.

July: Tour de Whatcom
Bellingham, Washington - July 27

Get a look at Mount Baker, Lake Whatcom, valleys, rivers, lakes, farmland beaches and the Puget Sound at this annual ride in the northwest. Rides of 25, 50 and 105 miles are offered and aren't considered challenging (the century has just 2,200 feet of climbing).

August: Paradise Ride Kauai 2013

Explore one of the world's most beautiful islands in this two-day journey around Kauai. The event is a "Design Your Own Ride" lets you ride as much as you're capable of. A century ride is offered on Sunday which means riding could total 150 miles over the two days—but could be as little as 13 miles a day.

September: California Coast Classic Bike Tour

October: Icon LASIK Tour of the Moon
Grand Junction, Colorado

Take a ride through the breathtaking Colorado National Monument at this event, which was made famous in the 1980s Coors Classic and later in the cycling movie American Flyers. The post-ride "Harvest Moon Celebration" features music, an up-scale lunch, prize drawings and a cycling expo.

Solvang, California - November 2

This is considered a great end-of-season ride that prepares cyclists for the Solvang Century the following spring. Rides of 35, 50 or 63 miles send bikers through the Santa Ynez Valley in the cities of Solvang, Buellton and Lompoc.

December: HI-USA Annual Christmas Bike Trip
San Diego, California - December 26-31
