In the world of triathlon, you can find plenty of variety. This year, mix things up by competing in an adventure race that offers paddling, canoeing, trekking, and even repelling in addition to more traditional triathlon legs.

The run (5K) and bike (15.1 miles) are traditional legs of this triathlon, but the swim is replaced with a 2-mile kayak. One hundred percent of the donations for this event will go toward breast cancer research.
Participants can choose to canoe, kayak or stand-up paddleboard for 3K to start this adventure triathlon. The 23K bike leg will take place along the rustic roads around Boulder Junction and will be followed with a 6.5K run course on wooded trails.
Each leg of the Pumice Man is sprint distance, but you'll have to do each leg twice to complete the race. To reward your efforts, every finisher will receive a unique handcrafted medal.
This triathlon adventure race can be done solo, as a relay team or as a raft team. The 28.5-mile New River Gorge course features extreme mountain biking and white water rating consisting of three class-5 rapids, so do be prepared.
Teams of two or three racers will go up against a series of challenges on Hawk Mountain, including rugged trekking and orienteering, mountain biking, rappelling and paddling. This 50-mile, 12-hour race isn't for beginners.
This 4.5-mile kayak, 7-mile mountain bike race, and 5K-trail run can be done as an individual or as a relay team. The majority of the race will take place around beautiful Lake Sumbro, 10 minutes north of Rochester, Minnesota.
This course starts near the Maury County Jail on the Duck River. Start with a 3.5-mile canoe paddle to Chickasaw Trace Park, where you'll then attempt an 8-mile mountain bike ride. The race finishes with a 2.5-mile run.
Suitable for beginner and experienced racers, the Edge Adventure Race consists of a 5-mile trek/orienteering, 10 miles of mountain biking, and 5 miles of canoe paddling that includes multiple team challenges. Participants will be given six hours to finish the race.
