How to Get Started
Laughter Yoga starts with a very simple question: do you want to laugh now?
If the answer is yes then just do it, now, for at least 10 minutes (hide in a closet if you have to). It's that simple and the only one that can stop you is you.
Do not hesitate to look online for a laughter club near you if you have any resistance (research tells us that it's 30 times easier to laugh in a group than to laugh on your own.) Expect to meet there like-minded souls who want to be at peace with themselves and see and focus on what works, not what doesn't work in their lives. Laughter Yoga has a protocol and lots of depth. It's fun (not funny), playful (not silly) and very much childlike (not childish).
What if you don't feel like laughing now? Considering the current state of the world we live in it is easy to understand where you are coming from. Very few things can make people laugh while hundreds can make them frown, howl and cry.
And here is why you should reconsider: laughter is a necessary component of human happiness, and its absence is a pathology that results in maladaptive and other dysfunctional behaviors (e.g. guilt, depression, worry.)
Why leave such an important function to chance?
