Use clay to make a menagerie - from woodland creatures to exotic animals, or even a beloved pet! This class will combine simple and complex handbuild techniques to approach a variety of animal forms. Discussions will build inspiration / references, to then build projects that are dynamic, detailed, and structurally sound. Students will learn three different forming methods: pinch/coil, stretched block, and hollowing out. By combining gesture and movement, individuality can be injected into each creature, and built upon with surface design texture and glazes. All experience levels are welcome. All students are asked to review the 2024-25 ceramics studio guidelines (provided upon registration) ahead of their first class in the space.
