Stay Fit for Summer: Crush Your Core

Written by

It's important to keep your core strong. It's the main support system of your body. It keeps your upper body intact and allows your lower body to move efficiently. Plus, working your core can help you achieve strong, flat abs. And who doesn't want those?

Flatten your stomach, boost your metabolism, and increase your speed in two moves that will test your balance, coordination and speed. Add these into your daily regimen. If you're short on time, crank a few rounds out. You'll feel the burn in no time.

Crunch Challenge

1-Minute High Knees

Stand tall, feet about shoulder-width apart. Bring your arms up, parallel to your shoulders. Bend your elbow so they are at a 90-degree angle, palms face each other. Make fists with your hands, like you're holding daggers.

Place your weight on your left leg and lift your right knee up. Try to get the knee and elbow to connect. Bring the right foot down and do the same with the left leg. Repeat this movement as fast as you can for one minute.

1-Minute Mountain Climbers

Start in a high-plank position. Make sure your hands are under your shoulders and are shoulder-width apart. Engage your core. Bring your right knee to your chest. Place it back on the ground and bring your left knee to your chest. Place it back. Repeat this movement as fast as you can, while maintaining a strong core and correct form, for one minute.
