Now for a few fun questions:

ACTIVE: Where do you keep your medals?

Meb: In a safe. I bring them with me a lot when I travel, especially when I go to schools and other appearances. I have considered getting replicas done, but I haven't done that yet.

ACTIVE: What's your favorite part of training?

Meb: I love to sweat. I feel a great sense of accomplishment. You know you started at zero and covered a certain distance. You can feel proud that you have done it.

ACTIVE: What's your least favorite part of training?

Meb: When the weather is not perfect—when it's gloomy or snowy. But I'm a morning person; I have to get out the door by 8:30 or 9 a.m. I get out the door and do it.

ACTIVE: What would you be doing if you weren't a runner?

Meb: If I weren't a runner, I think I would have been an engineer, doctor or pilot.

ACTIVE: What's your favorite non-running sport?

Meb: Soccer, to play. But I also like watching the NBA and NFL.

ACTIVE: What's your favorite post-race meal?

Meb: The first thing that goes into my body after a race is Generation UCAN. But meal-wise, it's steak. We had one last night.

ACTIVE: What do you do on your down time?

Meb: I like to spend time with my family and read autobiographies. I wish I could do those things more.
