In this activity, students will learn how to plan, film, and edit video profiles of other children in their school. Who better to tell childrens' stories than kids themselves? In this class, students will learn how to interview each other, plan a shoot, film with their friends, and edit their own stories using camera and sound equipment as well as editing programs. Helene Goupil is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and journalist who's worked on feature and short films. She's a film fellow at Still I Rise Films. She holds a Master's degree from U.C. Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism with a focus on multimedia journalism. She's been a grantee of the Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting, a Carnegie-Knight News21 fellow and a U.C. Berkeley fellow. She's created and ran video workshops and taught video at U.C. Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism as well as schools in the Bay Area. She's spoken in journalism classes and events around the United States including the Online News Association.
