About This Activity
Soak in the Summer beauties of the Cabin John Creek Watershed. Each day, we’ll hike alongside or wade through a different stretch of the creek, keeping our eyes peeled for the abundant flora and fauna offered by the region. For the closer stretches of the creek, we’ll depart from and arrive back on campus; for stretches of the creek that are further away from campus, we’ll take a short bus ride. Campers should bring a bag lunch and plenty of water in a knapsack. If the weather is warm enough and the current is safe, campers should expect to get wet as we’ll be doing much of our exploring in the creek itself, but will also utilize some of the trails throughout the park system. Campers should bring an old pair of sturdy tennis shoes or boots that they won’t mind getting damaged. Binoculars are recommended, although at risk of being water-damaged. The camp will be led by Titus Willard, who teaches 4th grade natural history at The Heights School. Note: Campers should bring an old, sturdy pair of shoes or boots, plenty of water, and wear tons of sunscreen!
