Prepare for a career as a phlebotomist in this 90-hour course. You will prepare for a national certification exam and learn how to collect blood specimens from patients and blood donors for laboratory analysis. In addition, participants will study infection control techniques and how to interact with others. Employment of Phlebotomists is expected to grow 10% from 2021 to 2031, faster than the average for all occupations (bls.gov). Important qualities: compassion, detail-oriented, dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and physical stamina. (bls.gov) Textbooks and supplies included. Students will have the opportunity to sit for the national certification exam within 2-4 weeks after the last day of class. The cost ($125) of the national certification is not included in the tuition for this course. The class is scheduled every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 PM - 9:30 PM and three Saturdays from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. The Saturday dates are March 2, March 16, April 6, April 13, and April 20.
